Video 10: “IPT Network Integration: Catalyst Switches” – As the connection point in the network, Cisco switches act as the first contact between the IP Phone and the rest of the world. CallManager implements its class of control system through Partitions and Calling Search Spaces (CSSs). Video 17: “Route Plan: Partitions and Calling Search Spaces, Part 2” – Partitions and Calling Search Spaces (CSSs) are used for more than just simple calling restrictions. This nugget discusses the best-practice applications of Partitions and CSSs as well as many of the additional uses of these features.

Video 18: “Route Plan: Time of Day Routing” – At 7:59 am you attempt a long distance call and find that you are denied. One minute later, you try the call again and it goes through. You have just experienced the effect of Time-of-Day Routing. This is another use of Partitions and Call`ing Search Spaces, which is discussed in this nugget.

Video 19: “Route Plan: AAR and SRST” – Companies using the Centralized Deployment model with CallManager experience unique challenges when interoffice WAN links fail or run out of bandwidth. This nugget discusses two Cisco-engineered solutions to these issues: Automated Alternate Routing (AAR) and Survivable Remote Site Telephony (SRST).

Video 20: “VoIP Features: Media Resources” – The voice network is like a car engine: it takes many working pieces to make it run. Some of those pieces are the Media Resources. These are resources such as Conference Bridges (CFB), Media Termination Points (MTP) and Transcoders. This nugget talks about managing these resources and taking advantage of Digial Signal Processors (DSPs) in your CallManager environment.

Video 21: “VoIP Features: Using IP Phone Features and SoftKey Templates, Part 1” – Welcome to Phone Feature Madness! In this nugget, Jeremy starts the journey through many of the common phone features you can use in CallManager networks. This nugget focuses specifically on Hold, Redial, Transfer, Call Waiting, Shared Lines, Softkey Templates and CallBack.

Video 22: “VoIP Features: Using IP Phone Features and SoftKey Templates, Part 2” – The Phone Feature Madness continues as Jeremy walks through Call Park, Call Pickup, Call Join, Direct Transfer and XML IP Phone Services.

Video 23: “VoIP Features: Extension Mobility and Dialing Codes” – One of the unique features to IP Telephony is Extension Mobility. This allows users to log in and log out of IP Phones just like they do Windows desktops. Their “phone profile” then follows them between different phones. This nugget shows the process to plan and implement Cisco Extension Mobility features.

Video 24: “VoIP Features: Using the Cisco Attendant Console” – Have you ever seen the console that receptionists use in traditional telephony systems? There are a billion different buttons, features and functions that take hours of training to master. Wouldn’t it be great if there was a better way? Oh wait…there is! Welcome to the world of Cisco Attendant Console. An on-screen, drag-n-drop, feature-ramma of receptionist functionality…that’s what this nugget is all about.

Video 25: “VoIP Features: Configuring Cisco IP Manager Assistant” – In larger organizations, managers and assistants work closely together to manage incoming phone calls. That’s why Cisco developed the IP Manager Assistant (IPMA) utility, which resembles the Attendant Console in many ways. In this nugget, Jeremy walks through the purpose behind, and configuration of, this utility.

Video 26: “CCM Security: Foundation Operating System” – CallManager 4.x versions run on the Windows Server platform. While this is not necessarily a bad thing (really), it does introduce many security concerns. This nugget is dedicated to enhancing the security of CallManager’s foundation Windows Server operating system.

Video 27: “CCM Security: Multi-Level Administration” – By default, CallManager authenticates users using the local Windows Server user database. This leads to all-or-nothing access permissions within CallManager. Most larger networks want a more granular system of access permissions. Granularity is the role of the Multi-Level Administration (MLA) function of Cisco CallManager. This nugget is dedicated to describing and implementing this function.

Video 28: “Voice Security: Toll Fraud Prevention and IP Phone Security” – While Toll Fraud is not as common as it used to be, it is still an area of security that must be addressed in today’s phone networks. In this nugget, Jeremy discusses the scandalous methods used to achieve Toll Fraud and measures you can put in place to prevent it. In addition, Jeremy begins to move into areas of security on the IP Phone itself.

Video 29: “Voice Security: Cryptography Basics” – In order to understand many of the security measures you can put in place in the Cisco CallManager environment, you need to understand some of the “realm of Cryptography.” In content directly from the CCSP series, Jeremy gives a broad overview of the process and components of Cryptography.

Video 30: “Voice Security: IP Phone Authentication and Encryption” – Now that you have an understanding of general Cryptography, Jeremy applies the security principles directly to the IP Telephony network. This nugget discusses areas of weakness in voice security and the methods CallManager uses to protect voice.

Video 31: “CCM Management: Getting Familiar with Management Tools” – Part of the ongoing maintenance of Cisco CallManager is managing and monitoring the CallManager server performance. This nugget presents two tools to monitor this area: the Microsoft Performance Monitor and Cisco’s Real-Time Monitoring Tool.

Video 32: “CCM Management: Alarms and Traces” – To assist with in-depth troubleshooting, Cisco provides the CallManager Serviceability Alarm and Trace functions. In this nugget, Jeremy explores this functionality and gives multiple scenarios where each function can be used.

Video 33: “CM Management: Call Detail Records” – Unbelievably, Cisco CallManager ships with sophisticated Call Detail Record (CDR) analysis software known as CDR Analysis and Reporting (CAR). This software allows you to report on many key areas of the IP Telephony network such as the Top N callers or the utilization of gateways and trunks. This nugget dives into this utility and demonstrates the potential of this software.

Video 34: “CCM Management: Miscellaneous CCM Management Tools” – It’s time for the Miscellaneous CallManager Management Tool Grab Bag!!! In this nugget, Jeremy discusses many additional tools that you can use to manage and monitor CallManager activity. Some of these tools include the Dependancy Records, the Dialed Number Analyzer (DNA) and Quality Reporting Tool (QRT).

Video 35: “Bonus Video: Building a CCVP / CCIE Voice Lab Environment” – For those wanting to assemble a CCVP or CCIE Voice lab environment, you won’t want to miss this nugget. Jeremy discusses the ideal lab hardware and software and gives some cost-savings tips on running

Cisco CCNA Network Simulator is a boxed software product derived from the previously self-published Boson NetSim from Boson Software. It provides users with a means to develop hands-on skills at the CCNA level without the investment in expensive hardware. The software, which includes the Boson Router Simulator, was designed to give users the skills needed to pass the new CCNA 800 series exams (640-801, 640-811, and 640-821). The combination of Cisco IOS and Catalyst simulated command line interface (CLI) establishes a foundation of knowledge that is integral to CCNA success, both in taking the CCNA exams and in one’s daily job as a CCNA professional.

The title includes a drag-and-drop Network Designer that supports up to 200 devices using 45 different device models, including 40 different router models and 2 Catalyst switch models. Users can have up to 200 active Telnet sessions configuring devices inside the simulator. This unique feature allows users to create their own lab topologies, freeing them for the first time from the configurations locked in place by the software vendor. Currently no other network simulation package offers this much versatility and support.
